About Inland Sea

The Inland Sea in an amazing natural phenomena found in Gozo more specifically in Dwejra. Qawra as it is sometimes called in Maltese is a  smal lsea water lagoon on the island which is linked to the Mediterranean Sea through a naturally formed arch-shaped opening.

Geological studies studies tell us that it was formed due to a gelogical fault in the limestore which originally created a cave. By time the cave roof collaped due to badweather and rough seas, forming the opening and creating the lagoon we can see today.

This geological phenomena isn't something new to Dwejra  until 2017 Dwejra was home to the wold famous Azur Window which collapsed on the 8 of March 2017. Geological studies show that the window was formed the same way originally it was a cave which due to bad weather and rough seas form the arch.
