About Ramla Bay

Ramla Bay: The Red Sandy Beach of Gozo

Ramla Bay is a beautiful and unique beach located at the bottom of a rich fertile valley on the northern side of Gozo, between the towns of Xaghra and Nadur. Its golden-reddish, wide and sandy beach makes it unique among all other beaches in Gozo and Malta, and is the reason it is known as "The Red Sandy Beach".

The area around the beach is also quite unique and interesting and provides very rich historical treasures. The famous Calypso Cave overlooks the bay from the west side of the beach, while Tal-Mixta Cave provides a breathtaking panorama of Ramla Bay from the east side. Ruins of a fortification built by the Knights of Malta in the 18th Century can also be found just underneath Calypso Cave.

Access to Ramla Bay is easy, as it can be reached by car via two streets from NadurXaghra, and by bus with very frequent services from Victoria and Mgarr. On the west end of Ramla (Xaghra side), the ruins of a Roman Villa can also be found, which is known as one of the most luxurious Roman villas in the Maltese islands.

Visit Ramla Bay for a truly unique and unforgettable beach experience on the beautiful island of Gozo.
